Norm Hann did a stand-up paddleboard trip through the British Columbia North Coast tanker route to highlight the objection of 80% of those in coastal British Columbia to the establishment of the tanker route and the hazards it would represent. The 250 mile trip through the Great Bear Rainforest took eleven days. During that period, the Deepwater Horizon leaked 26,000,000 gallons of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico. The tankers being proposed for the route, which are for exporting the oil to China, would dump three times that amound in a single accident.
